Fuel Filter/Separator

Im plumbing in a new Mallory Electric pump. The manufacturer says TANK to FILTER to PUMP to REG to CARB. Others say PUMP then FILTER. Which is the best way to go?

It is best that you not pressurize the filter with 8 PSI of fuel pressure. If it should spring a leak it will shoot fuel all over your engine compartment. If the filter is on the suction side of the pump it will simply suck air if it starts to leak.

Thanks Dennis.
i thought I saw something in your book to the contrary. Maybe I just read it wrong.

Did mine before pump also, that's how merc did it.
Also, as dennis's book shows, if your running a holley you can put the merc filters at the carb in the inlet lines.
