This is why we haven't heard much from Dave lately. Busy building this monster

Well, to satisify everyones;) curiosity, (I'll just give you the meat and potatoes):

With the blower it pulled 1125hp @5200 and 1200 torque @4600 and 30* timing on one of the pulls. I didn't fool around with the timing and the belt started to slip, that's why the hp peaked so low.

and naturally asp it pulled 730hp@ 5400 and 700 torque @ same with 34* timing.

I kept it at 5400 because that's where I'm gonna run at WOT so there was no sense in beating up the lifters and springs. Hydraulic rollers don't really appreciate that.

As far as only making 1125 with the blower, I was not even close to maxing it out. I had over 6k left on the impeller.

I was pleagued with problems on the dyno. Most had to do with things not fitting right in the first place. Everything from the blower kit to the tunnel ram.
Live and learn right?

I also would like to thank Dean Nickerson for all his patience with me. He was awesome. And stayed late for me. Great guy.

What kind of boost, cid, cam & anything else? Looks wild. I guess you are ready to tear up some drives.

cobra marty 08-13-2003 06:42 AM

Dave, That's sweet! What boat and drive? Do you have a Stellings ext box? I want my 'On-Board-Dyno' on it!

HPJunkie 08-13-2003 07:57 AM

Is that a tomcat box on that motor? It looks like a blast. Those slipping belts are a bunch of crap. Is that an M-4 or vortech or what? Greg

HPJunkie 08-13-2003 07:57 AM

What kind of boost did you see?

Dave F 08-13-2003 09:21 PM

The motor is a:
Dart 10.2 4.6 bore= 598
4.5 Lunati 4340 crank
6.7 Lunati 4340 rod
Wiseco forged aluminum piston
C/A tool steel rings
254/264 114 .642/.641 hyd. roller w/1.8 comp s/s roller rockers
Dart Pro 1 CNC 355's
Dart tunnel ram
Pro Charger M5 with 648 innercooler.
Twin 650 holley's done by Dean.

With the 8.5/5.5 pulleys Deans guages showed 16 lbs of boost. Yes, I said 16lbs. I never thought I'd see the day a PC would put 16# in a 600 inch motor.
I switched to the 7.65/5.25 and it still made 12 lbs when the belt wouldn't slip.

I'm gonna put it a 32 Dominator with a MMWX drive with a sportmaster lower also from MMWX.

I'm using a WPM 12" extention box and steering.

Thanks for the kind word gents,
DAVE

Does the WPM box use a carrier bearing and short drive shaft or a long input shaft? MMWX drive? What's that? Bravo type? Does that use a trans?

Dave F 08-14-2003 09:30 AM

Marty,

The WPM box is a cast aluminum box with some support "webbing" inside. A ~1/2" aircraft aluminum plate is attached to the inside of the box via 4 bolts. The splined heavy duty carrier bearing is bolted to that plate. The input shaft of the drive is inserted in that.
A telescopic drive shaft with a set of U joints on each end is bolted to the carrier and to a plate that is bolted to the flywheel.

MMWX is an acronym for Max Machine Worx in Lake Havasu. They build Bravos that are supposed to be able to handle the hp.

Looks great Dave!!!

Very impressive numbers as well. The flame arrestors should be at your door tomorrow. I may have a few questions for you with my set up in the next few weeks. That is going to be one bad Sunsation. Good luck and we will talk soon.
