Okay, we all know that we'll eventually see our "tie bar" lifters broken and possibly trash our blocks.

Who's running the Crane performance lifters that are setup to use the stock dogbone locators? Do we have any data on how long those will last in a performance application?

It's pretty apparent that they "can't" break a tie bar and wipe out the cam. They obviously can fail a zillion other ways, but what do we have in the way of data on failures??

Just asking.

So they're not any more reliable than the tie bar units?

(assuming both are running a 741 cam with proper springs at 5400 rpm)

They must be considerably lighter in weight (a problem with hydraulic roller lifters). The tie bar doesn't ride up and down with the lifter like aftermarket roller lifters.

I would like to try them with a rev kit and standard weight springs on the valves.

Seems like it would be easier on the valvetrain by controlling the heavy lifter with rev kit springs and transfering some spring tension away from the rocker arms and pushrods.

I run the extended Cranes in my blown Gen VI 540 with .600 lift and they have been flawless.:D
