trim alignment on bravo I
 

noticed today that the driver's of the lower unit on a Bravo I, rubs against a sort of brace. This brace protrudes from the back of the upper unit and acts like a guide for the trim canisters.

both sides have one but the left, or passenger side has a plastic shield or plate. The drivers side does not.
How can I correct the alignment so when I raise/lower the outdrive, it doesn't rub.

Not much in the manual on alignment so I'm reaching out to the experts.

You need to check & see if there is excessive play between the gimble ring & the bellhousing & order a new wear pad kit. Mercury Part# 805261A 1 wear pad kit only costs $11.10

I think you will always have the rubbing, it is not from raising the drive it is from the torque of the outdrive while trimming under a load, thats what the braces are for. The plastic wear pads are there so that they can be replaced. Technically you only need on on the right hand side on a single engine boat, that is unless you ride around in reverse a lot....

I would just replace both sides they are cheap enough and it will stop the metal on metal contact.

Anyone have to replace the Continuity wires on the outdrive? One broke last week and the screw was corroded and broke off. the other screw is on the left side of the Gimbal yoke(?), on the inside. Very difficult to get to.
Was wondering if a new hole could be drilled that allows better access.
