drive won't trim up when running fast.

around the docks and at low speed, under 15 mph, the drive trims just fine but at high speed the drive just won't come up far enough, It come up a little but i can't get any kind of rooster tail at all.

any ideas?

If the hoses are reversed you will have this problem. The system is designed to release in one direction-- if you hit something. This happened to a friend of mine.

ahhhh that could be the problem. When I installed it i was VERY suprised i got it right the first time. I'll have to flip them and try it again.

Puder, on the motor up = blue, make sure the drive is going up when the blue wire is hot.

hosses and wires hhooked up backwards. Picked up a some speed. Still think thet prop is slipping like an SOB.

Puder - What prop did you end up running?

same one i tried yesterday. 25p mirage (not a plus) turning about 5500 at about 62-63 in dead flat water.

didn't run it very much as i wasted an alternator belt. and had to put her back on the trailer.

So far I've tried a 27 Mirage (not plus) = 69mph @5000
26 Bravo One = 70 MPH @ 5500

Polish the belt grooves in your pulleys and make sure they are lined up properly. You should be able to lay a yardstick in the groove between two pulleys and not have it look crooked in the groove.

To polish the grooves, scrape off any rust, then use 220 emery cloth and finish with 400. Use an old belt and let the motor run around 1500. You can staple some emery cloth to the same yard stick you used for alignment and carefully sand the grooves while they are spinning. If the yardstick gets grabbed, just let the pulleys bite the end off it. Much better than losing fingers...
