Used BBC water pump, garbage?

I just replaced the engine water pump on my 1998 7.4L Merc. Does anyone rebuild these things, have a use for the stainless parts or should I just trash it?

If you are referring to the circulating pump, I would trash it if you don't need the core.

Yes, the circulating pump...... not the raw water pump... Thanks!!!

Yes, I asked the same question about a year ago when I replaced mine. I was told to trash it as well.

I had 3 cores laying around and asked one of my street rod buddies the same thing.....he sent me down to a good sized manufacturing shop in Detroit where they rebuild them. The guy did them for me on the spot for $40! And that was with new bronze impellers, the "good" US made bearings and new stainless rear covers!!! And my car was even still outside when returned to it (which was a surprise considering the neighborhood......). I did notice that the guy put the cash directly into his pocket though......
