Question on crash boxes

Can crash boxes run full power in reverse? In other words, could you use a crash box to reverse output rotation?

My guess would be no, and even if the crash box could handle the load, I would venture to say your outdrives were designed for standard rotation(CW looking @ frt of engine). I'd say call a pro, try Huber Marine @ 615 794 7583

Gary answer is no, cannot do it with a regular Velvet drive either. You would have to use one of the offset style Hurth/ZF's or a 5000 series Velvet drive.

A crash box is 1:1 in forward, no gears are involved and essentially a direct connection.

Too bad, it would solve a lot of problems.

Thanks Mbam, just trying to use a couple inline Arnesons with other equpment I've already got. Looks like I'll have to find a couple Hurths.
Anyone want a crashbox?
Gary
