Fram or AC oil filter #, '99 502MPI
Hey guys.
Anyone know what Fram or AC oil filter fits on my '99 502MPIs? I've always used stock Merc, but I don't mind using a Fram or AC. This is "oil week" for me. 2 502MPIs in the boat and the 454 in the Dually... Thats about 22 quarts of oil.. |
the good one is the PF35L the "L" one is the synthetis media.....you can go with the noraml PF35 without problmes too
|

Thanks Wally. Quite a few to choose from here..
You favor the Purolator "Pure One".. Why is that? I obviously want to put the best filter on the engines.. |
No...not that i prefer that one.....its prefered over the regular Pureolator...sorry for the confusuion.
Me persoanlly ......i used the pf35l on my boat and on the Dually. Since i dont have either right now anymore, i use the wix filters in my Yukon with RedLine Oils all around :) |
OK,
Here's a tough one for you... Current tow vehicle-'00 GMC 3500, 454. My '94 454 truck took the PF1218 if I remember right... This truck takes a filter that is about half as long...due to the 4WD front drive shaft... Which filter crosses with the AC PF454?? Yes, that's the AC #.... Is it the PF35L Lfor "low profile"??? |
that i dont know about.....I know that some trucks have the smaller fillters due to the driveshaft like you said and the fact they have the oil cooler adapter plate mounted right there thus limiting space. I have the same issue on my Yukon....it takes a little filter as opposed to the bigger pf1218 my old truck took cause it didnt have the cooler. I'm thinking about installing a remote oil filter system under the hood so i dint have to cral under the truck to get at the filter.
And the "L" doesnt stand for low profile. I have no idea why it has the "L" prefix on it but its the same size as the regular pf35 it just has synthetic filter media inside of it is all. |
