anyone put one on a 27 Fountain step hull and where did did you mount it?

Go GPS :D Seriously. I am not sure why anyone would want to put one of these on your boat. They add drag, break off all the time, and get blocked up the first time you run through a bed of muck. The GPS ones are a little on the expensive side up front but in the long run they are well worth it.

you have one built into the leading edge of your Bravo.
They work as good as most separate ones.

Jon, I already have a mapping gps and mcollinstn, dont assume I have a Bravo, its a Imco shorty:D

I've heard conflicting reports about step hulls requiring additional pitot depth to get past the aeration. Honestly, I would ASSUME that a normal pitot depth would be adequate, but you may want to do what I did on a notched-transom outboard:

I took a stainless plate and transferred the holes onto it from a Medallion pressure-assisted pitot (3 holes). I then added 2 long slotted holes in the plate for up and down adjustment. I started with it all the way up and kept moving it down a little at a time until it worked at WOT (chinewalk still caused the needle to drop). When I liked the depth, I marked the location and used 4200 adhesive to seal it. Worked good and ended up a good bit lower than I had expected it to be. That's the only way to have adjustability and not drill a zillion holes thru the boat. On a single, I still prefer to put a pitot on the starboard side of the hull (old prop torque habits).

I have no experience, though, with your particular setup so you will need to take my info with a grain of salt.

Indy, I think if you have a new style Imco shorty where you have the low water pickup nostril the passage for the speedo is connected into the water intake passage. If you stick a hose on the upper where that yellow twisty thing is and blow through it and hear air than they are connected. The older ones aren't
