Boat Almost Sunk - POS Fitting!

25 Outlaw with 496MAGHO.

We were out cruising along yesterday on an otherwise uneventful beautiful day and after some time I started feeling what I though was some strange porpoising.
I began wondering wtf is going on. Shortly after, I glanced down and saw my bilge pump light come on. I put two and two together and thought, "Oh Chit, we're taking on water."

When we come to a stop, the engine starts sputtering. I immediately raise the hatch and to my shock, I saw my bilge filled with water. It wasn't too bad, but it was deep enough to be coming into the back seat area.

Right away, I noticed the source and it was being pumped in by the engine cooling system.

This cheap-azz, POS fitting on the bottom-side of the port exhaust manifold had literally corroded and crumbled away.

I killed the engine and the bilge pump made quick work of what was left in the bilge. Got towed in and that took like 3 hours. I was so friggin' pissed. What a way to end a weekend.

So, what the hell made this fitting eat away in less than two years. It looks like someone totally fukked up and used the wrong metal in this fitting. I looked at the starboard side also and it's about to let go, too.

Anyone else seen this?

wtf!

wow, I'm surprised you didn't burn up an exhaust hose. If yours uses them.

It was pretty damned hot! I have blisters to prove it. :D

This whole situation took place in like a minute. There's a lot of water pumping through there. Luckily, the exhaust looks fine.
