YIKES! Waddya think?

OK, need some good opinions here folks.......

My boat is sitting on the hydrohoist unwinterized. Tonight, it's going to be below freezing for at least 6 hours, with a low of 22 degrees. Does anybody think I should be worried? I'm kinda nervous. It's a 3 hour round trip drive, so I don't wanna waste my time if it'll be ok, but i don't wanna lose an engine over something stupid like this. :(

What's the thought???? Should I start heading that way???

damn iowa anyway........why do i still live here????

I used 2 heat lamps last year and ended up with a freeze plug in the bilge. People are going to tell you that it's ok to use a 100w light bulb. I'm going to recommend a electric heater. Just be sure there are no gas fumes.

That's what I was afraid of.......Sounds like I better hit the road and bring it home and tuck it away in the garage....

Thanks guys....... at least my boss is a boater. work never gets in the way of boating........ahaha

You could just have someone lower the lift into the water. Or if you're still worried, runn the engine to warm it up later today. That should keep it warm enough overnight.

how cold is too cold

what would one consider too cold?

blue thunder 10-01-2003 06:18 PM

Aahh, the beauty of closed cooling (almost). My opinion is this; if it was relatively warm today and the boat has a cover that covers the air intake grates and all other openings to the engine room are essentially closed, one night going to those temps won't hurt a thing. Stack a couple cold days with a couple 22* nights and you got kaakaa.

Just remember 2 things,

opinions are like azz4oles, everyones got one and some stink

Waterloo is superior to Cedar Rapids in all ways

BT

There is no way I would take that chance. But, then I am not a gambler.
