Trailer question

I have a new fastload 2628, the alum frame is 6.5 inches tall, I am looking for a spare tire mount to us on the Y of the frame that lifts the tire up so I do not loose clearance.

Our local tire store and West marine only have the ones that work on the 4 inch trailer beam height.

I could lay it flat and U bolt but that is not my preference since the rim matches etc... we travel/tow allot so I hate to use room in the grand cherokee.
Open to links and ideas....
Thanks in advance as always.
Bryan

Some of the carriers designed to u-bolt to 4 inch frames will also work on the taller frames by drilling holes thru the frame members to mount the carrier. Get a can of spray galvanize to re spray after drilling the holes and you should be good to go.

My bet is you could probably make one from "stuff" found at your local reputable hardware store or home depot. I'll just bet that you are smart enough and good enough with tools to make something work for you that looks good and works well.

Have you considered mounting it horizontally just behind your bow support?

how about just throwing it in the truck... The trailer looks alot nicer without :)

Try going to a welding shop and have them build you 12-16" bracket that can be bolted to the frame at the front of the trailer, the real cool ones would have a axle spindle and hub, thus giving you plenty of extra parts, when needed.

Parts:
1 bottom mounting plate 4 " X 6"
1 12-16", 2 1/2" square tubing or round
1 spinde
1 Hub, and nuts

Hey stop on over, we can build it tonight !!

Call Myco trailers and get one of their spare tire brackets and bolt or weld it on.

Bryan,
Long Run marine products makes a bracket with a 5 lug hub already mounted to it. Wholesales around 45 / 48 bucks as I recall. If you have a 6 lug hub, you will end up fabbing one. It is nice having a complete spare hub and bearings..
