ARP assembly lube
 

Simple question.

Ordered ARP head bolts, assumed they would come with ass. lube. They didn't!
I do have some other brand assembly lube with moly graphite. Is it the same stuff or should I order the $7 ARP lube w/$8 S&H. :mad:

If your torque specs for the bolts specify two settings, one with moly and one with thirty-weight oil, use the oil and save the cash for beers. It's also possible ARP is assuming you have a particular sealant to use on the bolts.

The paper that comes with the ARP bolts talks about the 30 wgt oil thing Crazyhorse mentions. I bought two sets of these bolts in July to find one set with the lube and one without. I called the ARP help number on the bottom of the paper and talked to a very helpful young lady who reassurred me that the 30wgt oil would be fine. I did one engine with moly lube and one with oil. Neither had any head gasket trouble. The trick is to be consistent on all bolts with what you do, to get an evenly distributed clamping force.

US1 Fountain, special this week only!! I'll include the lube when I send your heads back. :D The ARP Thread sealer is a product well worth purchasing but it is not applicable on your block. The thread sealer is for block's with head bolt holes into the water passages.
