Calling the stepped hull gods
Let me start by saying great site glade I was able to get in guys were very helpful. I manufacture radio controlled model boat hulls about 200 a year and have decided to step one of my deep vee hulls and make a mold of it. I have been told my the two sanctioning bodies that this in now a hydro and can not run with monos or deep vees. I will change this some how and some day. What I was wondering is was there similar problems and how was it over come with the real boat racing organizations. Funny thing is when the tell me it cant run with deep vees its a hydro they will not deiced were it can run cats or hydros. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the real world a monohull is a monohull. Not hard to figure that one out.
A hydro is any 3-point hull. The distinction between Cat and Tunnel is the only thing that is tricky. Number of, and placement of, steps doesn't recategorize a hull style. |
So mono deep v are all in the same class even stepped. Has this always been was there a fight to get stepped monos included.
|
Just because it had steps didn't matter. But when the "Bat Boat" And "Buzzi's Baby" Came out They where cast into their own "X" Class because Of Other Things. Not The Steps.

True, sorry.. Forgot about the Schoell variations.
Offshoremodel, go check out the Bat Boats (Reindl Powerboats) and you'll see why they are in a different class. |
Well this is the hull I am working on and the one being called a hydro LOL. Is there a place I can get the rules for the real boats and maybe a site with some good reading on the subject. I want to educate my self as much as I can start a move to make this right. We are supposed to be models of the real boats why not run them like real boats but faster to scale LOL. Thanks in advance for your help.http://images.andale.com/f2/123/119/...7_MVC_003S.JPG

If it had a notched transom, it would be just like a Fountain and a dozen other stepped vees.
|
Hydro yeah right, those guys need to go to a real boat race!!
|
Mcollinstn is right. I think you should go ahead and add a notch.
Looks good by the way. Bob |
What's the advantage to having the notch. Also I was wondering about spin out I hear allot about the stepped boats spinning out. Is it because the air don't spill out in the turns as well. Does the boat give any sings it going to spin before it does. You guys are very helpful I appreciate it.
