Whats the torque specs for gil manifold bolts at the head. 454cu.in.

Way back when I was told 25 ft/lbs and then torque them again after a few cycles. I put considerably more than that on them because I cant get at them later to tighten them up again.

Look at staibnless marine's website.

They have the install instructions there. I'm sure it's similar for the Gils..............For some reason 25-30 sounds right.

If you use good gaskets it would be 25-30 foot pounds once. If you use cheap header gaskets (simply punched out of gasket material) you will have the spec memorized in no time (you will change them twice a season).
A three piece gasket, a steel core with gasket material on each side (sandwich steel core gaskets), are the only way to go.

DO NOT use a steel core gasket on aluminum headers. Gil sells a real nice graphite gasket that doesnt leak and can be reused and doesnt stick, or use a good felpro or mr gasket performance gasket.
