HP500 oil stat ?

I have found that my oil is not getting hot enough. It is like pudding, no engine water problems, but water temp never gets higher than 110. I have oil temp of 120 130 the must on both engines. I have 502 500 HP VI 1999. What is the stat at the oil filter block set at and is it changeable to a higher temp?. I know I need higher temp but not sure how to get it. I believe I should have 180 oil temp? Any help or answers.

Thanks Rich

I tested mine a couple of years age
by immersing the thermostat in oil and gradually
heating the oil, it opened at 210*, which makes sense,
since your trying to boil off the condensation.

Mine read 190* up to 3500 rpm's,
will go up to 220* after a good
flogging.

The t/stat could be stuck open:confused:

Mine still would have trouble getting warm oil temps in the fall when the lake temp was cold. It also was reading in the 130 range. During summer it worked as expected. I just wrote it off as the cool motor temp was keeping the oil temp down.

oil stat

I should have said this was all summer not now. I changed the oil four times just to try and get any water out. I do not have thermostats so I know the water temp is going to be low but why the oil even after a hard run it is 130 the highest ? I also have 250 blowers with inner coolers.

Thanks for any help you can give

Rich
