Teague Valve Covers
1 Attachment(s)
Anyone using these? If so, did you find it necessary to make a gasket or apply some silicone between the base of the breather and the outside of the valve cover? Just wondering if oil seepage or oil mist at the breather base is a problem before I safety wire the breather bolts. Thanks.

I put a little sealer on before I bolted them down on mine. The only outher thought I had after I wired them on was maybe I should have put some of that material you see at the end of the PCV valve tube inside of the air cleaner of a street machine in the vent tube to chatch any oil mist but is does not seem to be to bad as of yet.

Thanks. I was a little surprised there was no gasket supplied, but overall, they look like pretty good castings for the money.

I've had these on my other boat
and they came with gaskets. Before I safety wired them I also used some loctight on the bolts for extra precaution. They're breathers and they will mist. After running for a while I had a small amount of oil spray smudge in the back of the hatches, where they meet the body of the boat. The air pressure created in the engine compartment allowed the mist to try to escape thru the rear of the hatches. Don't worry about it, it will give you something to do on saturday mornings at Michigan City A man and his Simple Green:p |
