cleaning aluminum heads
I am wanting to clean my set of AFR's. Espessially the combustion chambers. Its all just carbon from the 110 octane. I was gonna use just a wire wheel on it, but I didn't feel right doing that.
Is there a aluminum cleaner that i can buy? Would mortic (spelling) acid so the trick? Thanks Travis |
We use a soft wire wheel on aluminum motorcycle heads. Just make sure its real soft. Oven cleaner works but it will stain the aluminum but it wont hurt it.

Toothpaste, preferably one that guards against cavities, and a small toothbrush. That oughta keep you out of trouble for the winter. Hey, you gonna come to the next Crazyhouse party?
You must be on way better drugs than me to think that a small block is EVER gonna open a big steaming can-o-whupass on any big block,,,,,,,,,:mouse: |
hey now be nice... LOL! Some small blocks can be a big suprise ;) Toothpaste.. hmmm I probably would end up lickin or eating my nice heads... :D

Actually, I was watching one of the local big-horse engine builders clean some aluminum engine components with WD-40 and some fine scotchbright pads. The parts looked like brand-new when he was done. Good to see you Trav. It's been a while. You coming into town anytime soon?.
