I probably had more then i thought, it was just a estimate.. my motor recipe this time is for around 570 hp ;) How bout a couple of these for your boat :D
|
Cool thread- Trav- what are you planning for the 570??.......doug
|
Travis I would love a pair of those. A pair of your current engine would be awesome also. The fuel would be a drag. I have a 120 gallon tank. It would take alot of gas cans lol.
Have you been happy with your exhaust? I am thinking about changing. Also have been thinking about changing to a carb. What cfm are you running? Thanks Dwight..Hppy Tday. |

She runs on 110 ;) Whitey.. i am very happy with my EMI's no problems yet. Right now I am running a 750 holley, but changing over to a 800 holley :) |
Travis, what did you do to your vortech heads? Did you do it or did you send to a shop? Dwight
|
I see if I can remember, That was two motors ago LOL!
I had JimV ( jim valako) do them. Had them machined for 7/16's screw in studs and guideplates. Had the valve guides machined down to take the lift of my cam and accept a small teflon valve seal, so they would fit inside my springs. that was about it.. i would not run any motor that had pressed in studs, in my mind all this is cheap insurance My opinion, if your on a fixed budget, the vortec heads are the way to go. They flow great and are only about $260 each. Alot cheaper compared to the $1850 I payed for AFR heads, but AFR heads are gorgeous peices  :) |
What do you figure your investment was? if you do not mind me asking?
|
got the vortecs from a buddie-$400
Machine work from valako-$225 springs-$125 retainers-$55 locks-$35 seals-$25 7/16" ARP studs- $75 guidplates-$24 = $939 Springs, retainers, locks were to match my cam. |
thanks Travis, I am thinking about having some work done but, have to weigh out the cost. I have seen some pretty good deals lately on heads and wonder if it is better to buy with the heads already done. Atleast this gives me a idea of where I am at as a starting point. Dwight
