Need a Stud source
I'm looking for studs.
(insert appropriate joke here) I need to replace the studs used to hold my TRS transom plates to the transom. a certain large marine company wants almost $9.00 a piece and they are not even stainless! I need 16 of them. 5-3/8" overall length 1/2" diameter, threaded on both ends: End "A" is threaded 1/2-13 (1 inch of threads) End "B" is threaded 1/2-20 (1.5 inches of threads) Tried McMaster Carr, but they only carry 1/2-13 on both ends. I emailed ARP, but no reply yet. Any leads on fastener sources would be greatly appreciated. DS |

Why worry about coarse on both ends if the fine thread end has the nut on it? Buy a coarse nut and be done with it.

Info - I think fine threads have more holding power.
The coarse end goes into the block and has a large area of threaded contact. The fine thread only has contact with the nut that does not have very much length. ( contact area ) |
