Anybody need extra space in their Bravo?

I've come up with a new space saver design to give you a little storage space in your Bravo drive. Shhh, don't tell Merc, I don't have a patent yet.

Boy , I hate when that happens:(

JaayTeee 12-12-2003 05:01 PM

Did you hit something ?

At least the gear floors wern't
knocked out

duunoit 12-12-2003 05:19 PM

don't think so

I don't think I did. This happened back in June or July. I just got the drive apart. I thought I had lost my prop. The engine raced and then stopped. I don't mean it stalled, it stopped. I don't remember seeing anything in the water when we stopped, but that doesn't mean there wasn't some thing submerged...

Man.... that looks just like my last two XRs. My case looks just like that. Which is why I am in the market for a new one. Some say they can be repaired, but Im reluctant to spend all that money on new gears and take a chance with the case being out of alignment or something like that. just buy a complete upper.

Tinkerer 12-12-2003 07:54 PM

I order to have that kind of damage you would have damage to the prop. Was there any?

Twisting the prop shaft can be done with a high HP engine and flying the boat without pulling the throttle back. On re-entry the prop stops faster than the engine and the shaft twists.

duunoit 12-12-2003 08:03 PM

nope...

No damage to the prop. I had just bought the boat around the middle of April and at that point I don't think I ever had it out of the water (flying).

Tinkerer 12-12-2003 08:11 PM

Either the previous owner did or the prop on the boat wasn't the original.
How much HP do your engines have???

mcollinstn 12-13-2003 03:00 AM

Did you break the top cap?
Pix don't show it.

Payton 12-13-2003 07:04 AM

Yikes! Looks like you could use it for a blender and just buy a new drive.

duunoit 12-13-2003 07:24 AM

tinkerer.
When I bought the boat it had a Mirage 27 on it (needed a 23). It is an HP425.

mcTN,
Top cap looks good, I just forgot to take it out of the box o' parts.

Previous owner either changed the prop after it got damaged or he had bigger engines in it before he sold the boat to you.

Roger 1 12-13-2003 11:03 PM

I think that used to be a case. Now it`s a planter!

migpilot 12-14-2003 10:21 AM

And then there's the issue of sudden stoppage damage to the engine. In the aviation world, when that happens the engine usually needs to be inpected for damage.
