Puder. I bought the project last 9/11 02 I hope thats not a bad omen. It had been sitting waiting for a savior ,or maybe a blind man. I found a guy Plymouth Ma to take everything out and clean it up I've spent the last year rounding up new top of the line parts. Sent the Arneson to pacific surface drive for all new moving parts and seals and bead blast for the Magnesium case and all new hyds./hoses. Sent the Velvet drive [72C] usually used with Rats not S/B to V/Drive rehab shop in Fairhaven Ma. Same deal, all moving parts/seals replaced. Bought a '03 S/B 350 roller from Doug Russell. Now I'm having composit mtr hatch ,Mtr./cockpit bulkhead, and floor inserts installed. When thats done ,off to Fla. to try to finish up . Anybody out there have experience with this early 80's Wellcraft hull ?? I've tried to keep it light. Went over scales @4000 with mtr, trns, drive but no seats wires gauges fuel ,etc. that stuff should be 1000 lbs. or more. Hope I like howw the hull works, if I do then I'm going to have a BIG S/B built to keep every thing as light as possible. Then Naples in the winter. Nantucket in the summer.

if its help out at all. i have an 87 26' scarab and with a bravo and 550hp she runs mid 60s. Still playing with props but i think high 60s is it unless i come up with more HP. I might try a shorty lower.
i think the surface drive might be a trick setup and shoul amke her a little quicker. |
