oil cooler opinions
ok, hopefully I will have the powerplay running by memorial day :( .. The 383 is coming along little by little. My stock 270 hp did not have a oil cooler, just a p/s cooler.
Would it be smart for me to put on a stock merc big block oil/ps cooler with a oil thermostat. With this setup the oil will not get overheated and it won't be cooled to much either..... correct? and ideas would help :) Thanks Travis |
TRAVIS I HAVE SOME 500HP COOLERS & OIL FILTER BLOCKS W/THERMOSTATS THAT I TOOK OFF.I HAD TO GO TO LARGER COOLERS & FILTERS. OIL THERMOSTATS WILL KEEP YOUR ENGINE AT A CONSTANT TEMP ALL THE TIME.MAKE A OFFER IF YOUR INTERESTED.RON

If you run it hard for any length of time at all I would run a cooler. Personally I wouldn't run a boat with out an oil cooler. Thermostat for keeping oil temperature up may not be required depending on water temperature and where you boat. Fun project!

Traviss, do it!!! I thought I could do without after modifying my 350 Mag to 383.
Oil gets too hot, thats why I will install the original combined oilcooler of an 454. I already have one, but didnt do the installing yet, hope it works out. I am not planning on using an t-stat though. Good luck! |
Traviss-if you are looking I have a 454mag one that I'd be willing to part with...

Cord.. you have mail :D :D

Traviss, I've got a 330 oil cooler for free if you come and get it. Maybe when you go to Valako's or the party here.

Here I go picking up Traviss' leftovers again.
I'd like to buy an oil cooler setup for my 406. Preferably with t-stat. Anyone got one they want to unload? Mike [email protected] |
