rmBuilder,
Twin 500 E.F.I.s, year 2000, 160 hrs. TRUE usage as follows: 20% at idle, 70% at 2800/3000, 10% over 3000. I have second guessed my decision to the "Blue motors", over the 496 h.o.s, with the issues regarding the heads. Just don't seem to hear the problems with the stock motors, and in that I cruise, not race or poker run, what would you recommend on the next Cig. |

Is there a list of part numbers and description of the parts, tools and preferred vendor available?
Is there a board member who sells these repair parts and removal tool as a kit? Spring P/N XXXXXXXX JEGS Retainer P/N XXXXXXXX Summit Lock etc etc etc Thanks Shawn |
Anyone know what year (if at all) Merc chaged their springs and do you still need to do the 200 hour changeout at 200 hours with them?
|
Does anyone know - has Merc changed the springs that they use now as stock and if so when did they do so? If you have the new springs do they still need to be changed at the 200 hour mark or are they now saying that they are good for more hours??

Splashandburn,
I don't know for sure but I was told by my mechanic that the springs were changed in 1998. I would imagine that at 200 hours, it would still be a maintenance issue no matter what springs you have. Good luck |
