What ratio to get to 1.36???

I have a bravo xz drive with 1.50 gears right now.
What ratio would you use in a Imco lower to get a final ratio of 1.36 with out changing the upper gear set?

I might be wrong on this, but I think the only way to get to 1.36 is to change the upper gears.

Yep uppers

there are gear sets available from merc that will change your xr into a 1.36 or a 1.25.these are for the lower,[gearcase]i have them in stock if you need them

CigDaze 01-25-2002 08:25 AM

I think that is also the case...If I remember correctly, the lower unit gears are 1:1(equal), so there's no reduction there.

The XR 1.5 has upper gears of 19/16 teeth and lower gears of 19/15 teeth. By changing the lower gears you can get the different ratios. New lower gears of 17/15 will give 1.3458 and new lowers of 16/15 will give 1.266.

formula31 01-25-2002 09:14 AM

Cool, learned something new today. Thats only the XR though right?

CigDaze 01-25-2002 09:32 AM

you and me both f31

sterndrivespec 01-25-2002 04:55 PM

that will work on the xz also.if you have a 1.36 xz you can end up with a 1.12 ratio

Garry 01-25-2002 08:08 PM

So with the Imco lower can you order it with the correct ratio to get me to 1.36 or is this a merc deal only?
