350vortec heads automotive
ok im back with more questions.are automotive vortec heads casting only the same as marine?
|
I didn't do the vortecs, just researched them, so you may want to double check this.
If you go to this link GM Perf Parts Catalogue and look for part no. 12558060 (the 8060 head), that's the Vortec SBC head. It has two casting numbers: 10239906 and 12558062. I don't know if there is a difference and, if so, what it is. Some ads in the back of Chevy Hi Perf mag offer a 72cc SBC Vortec head, but I've never found it in the catalogue. I have *heard* you want the 906 casting, but don't know why. As for marine use, yes the auto head is fine. It has induction hardened seats, instead of inserts, which I think is better for hot headed marine engines. So, if I were you, I'd figure what the different casting numbers mean and go from there. |
thank you im on it now
