x dimension question

on a twin engine boat, should the x be measured from the keel or directly above the prop centerline? on a cig with no notch what would be a good safe height with
ssm #3's. getting ready to cut the transom, please help.

On my Fountain I had SSM III's and they were positioned with the centerline of the propshaft directly in line with the bottom of the hull ( not the notch ) directly under the drive. So if you were to sight along the drive .... With the drive trimmed with the prop shaft parallel with the hull bottom,, they would line up. My boat had a notch and side by side engines. NOT Staggered. Worked fine for me...

wow thats a lot higher than i thought would be o.k.!!
i,m assuming no extension boxes & 4 blade props. thanks for the info. anybody without a notched transom?

No extension boxes.... three blade cleavers. 13 X33's Yeah... it did seem high.... but when the drives are planed... only the bottom half is supposed to be in the water... That was the way fountain set up the boat. When you look at Arneson surface drives.. they sit even higher... but they are quite a ways further back.
