Mercruiser 465hp
Does anyone know if the merc 465 from the early nineties is a 454 or 502 block? NK
|
NK, it was a 502 block. The yellow 94 Cyclone that won the Outstanding Offshore Performance award in Powerboat magazine was equipped w/ 465's. They were a 502 cubic inch engine w/ 445 prop HP @ 5200rpm. The factory (Saber) updated them to 500 HP specs. after the test. I do believe merc made a blue 450HP that was a 454 block.

The HP465 ran up to '94. It is the same motor as the later HP500's, except it used a flat tappit cam and AL highrise dual plane intake with a 2" spacer. Merc Gil exhaust.
The V/C's are originally blue, but I PC'ed them red to make them look purty when the blower was on. |
Thanks guys. :)

I have a pair out of a 1992 Fountain.They are 502 mark 4 blocks.The blocks 502 and 454 will have 8.2 or 7.4 cast in the side.
