Could you cam it to get about 425hp at a conservative 4400 rpm, 5psi? Or would require very high cylinder pressures to generate that much torque?

Some of you guys (TOM, Jafo, Crazy) know what I know and what I dont know. But it seams to me that the #1 most asked Q in here is about making more HP with the 7.4L motor. And with it being winter what beter time to sling bull and see what every one thinks. the reason I did not put Super Charging as that usually is a much large $$$ up grade then the above listed items.

If I wanted to wake up a 330 without spending a lot of money I'd switch to a slightly larger cam, and maybe spend a little money on a Performer intake. It won't get you 450 horses but it'll make enough of a change to put a smile on your face.

I have a complete upgrade package that should work with your 7.4. HP500EFI plenum take off, cam and heads. look in the classified section under engine parts for details.

Crazyhorse what cam would you suggest on the 330 hp to bump it up mildly? Any numbers or specs you could share?

Rags, IMO, the real limitation with a 330 is the cast pistons. You can install a bigger cam, rect. port heads, etc, all of which will reqiure turning the motor to a higher rpm for optimum hp. In a boat, cast pistons will not live for long at these rpms. Unless you change out the pistons, expect to change out the motor when you break one. Seems to me changing pistons now would be cheaper than a new motor and lost time in the summer.
