HP500 Carb serpentine belt conversion

I'm replacing the factory stamped steel pulleys on my HP500 carb motors. I have individual belts for alt/water/crank, seapump/crank, and PS/crank.

Has anyone ever converted to a serpentine setup? Are the stock accessory brackets in the right locations?

Are there kits available?

Thanks,
Brian

No, they won't be in the right locations. You'll need a 100% complete assembly off a existing engine. You'll also need a new power steering pump, water pump, alternator and proably raw water pump. You'll also have to reword the fuel pump too. If you are getting the impression that this is a totally different assembly, then you are correct.

That is just an upgrade to polished pulleys

P4 is talking about switching from V belt to serpentine.

The one other option would be to go to March Performance. They will sell the pulleys and brackets to convert to serpentine.

I saw it done a couple of years ago by powertorque engines. I thought it wes just pulleys. Mite want to give them a call.

Thanks for the help, folks.

I've talked to a number of parts houses, CP, Eddie, Doller, Cobra, and I'm hearing the same thing - all new brackets, reloc a different PS pump and raw water pump. Obnoxus is right, the serpentine kits are dress-up kits for existing serpentine motors.

I was hoping this was a simple pulley conversion with the right offsets, sold as a kit. From what I've heard, this is way more than I want to get into. I'll just stick with a set of billet pulleys and go with good quality belts.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

Brian
