I just ordered a comp xe-262 cam- I know I will need new valve springs for my 1990 350 which had the stock cam/valve springs in it. What springs should I get, and do I need new retainers? obviously I should replace the seals- which ones should I get? I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I don't want junk either.

Can anyone advise me on this?

Comp should have Part #'s for the springs, retainers, locks, seals that match that cam. Just call comp cams and tell them what cam you have and they will advise which springs and ect, you should run. You could also look on there website. I run crane and their website has all the info.

Use Comp Cams springs part number 981-16 or even better 986-16

I just put the xe-262-10 in my 383 this weekend. Broke the cam in this morning. Runs and sounds good.

USA Racing balanced the assembly for me and recommended the Crane springs over the Comp 986-16

Have you ordered your cam yet? If not just order the kit, it's a good deal for all the parts it comes with. Just put a 'k' in front of your part number.
