Slippage typically will INCREASE with additional torque - This is why your boat at 4000rpm and a very light load will show less slippage than when you have 12 lard-butt guys and 6 full coolers at 4000rpm.

Slippage also increases as you trim your prop out of the water.

Some motors most assuredly continue to make more torque over 5252 rpm. Just look at a 600cc sportbike motor.

I bet some of the sterling and other motors that they buz in the race boats has a peak tourq thats above 5250.

On My old Scarab the motor surged up to 2600 rpm before it clear up from the cam and the blower. it peaked at 5200 TQ and hp was at 7250rpm.
