Subs

DOES ANY HAVE BOXES MADE FOR THEIR SUB-WOOFER THAT ARE UNDER THE BACK SEAT AREA? IF SO PICTURES PLEASE.
I WAS TOLD UNLESS YOU HAVE A BOX THE SUBS WILL SOUND BAD.

Running subs in an infinate baffle will not allow the sub to reproduce sounds as it was engineered to do. Some are actually designed for IB but do not sound as good or are as loud compared to subs with enclosures.

I have 4 10" subs mounted in the base of my back seat bench.

You just need to know what design you are going with (i.e. Sealed or Ported) and build an enclosure to the right size and withing the confines of the size of the seat pedestal.

Most 10" subs require about .65 to .75 cubic feet of airspace and 12" need about 1 - 1.25 cubic feet in sealed applications. Ported boxes require about 2X the space. Just refer to the specific recommendations of the subwoofer you choose for box recommendations.

I'd go with 3/4" marine plywood over MDX (medium density fiberboard) in a boat due to the pounding, moisture, etc....

I installed my subs (2 10 jl's) down in the cabin, in a box that I incorporated in a storage area I was not using. The bass wave develops in the cabin and has a deeper tone. You will need to have you cabin door open when listening of course........

There are a few free air subs out there that can hold their own. Clarions and Allumapro for example. I have had very good results in a number of aplications with the Clarions.

Sealed is prefered but also a LOT more work. You can be more sure of the outcome with a box. However I have yet to be real disapointed with free airs. I find that the expense of adding boxes can often be outweighed by adding a second pair of subs.
