Compatible year range for Bravo one drives

I've been looking over the classified ads for a set of replacement Bravo one drives. My current drives are 89 Bravo ones with oilers. Can anyone tell me 1. How to determine the correct gear ratio. Can I replace with almost and drives or do I need specific year(s)

Thanks

Gear ratio, you can take the top cap off and count teeth and compare to a chart on the net, or lok for a stamp on the sides of the drives. I would recommend counting the teeth though. As far as swaping for m an 89 to newer year I am not sure I did the 95 to 2002 swaps with no trouble. maybe somebody can chime in on that one. I have mine for sale as well.

Merc uses a letter stamp to determine drive ratios. The stamp is on the universal splined yoke. C= 1.65:1 F=1.50:1 H=1.36:1.

I have an '89 boat with a 95 left Bravo and a 2002 right Bravo. Changing the entire outdrive should pose no problem. Problem occurs when swapping parts of outdrives. The later Bravos with the longer (front to back) gearcase is not compatible with the earlier uppers that have a shorter lower case.
Most V8's are 1.50s
