Since I have not even driven my new boat with Silent Choice on it and a 496HO, can someone tell me what benefit you get by blocking off the silent choice?
thanks, Dave |
Dave, I replaced my Exhaust Manifolds to a different style aftermarket type, this winter and now the silent choice may not fit, so that would be my reason........
For other's, they may be looking to get their exhaust less restrictive, other's?????????????? |
I've had the rubber pluming plugs on two boats with no problems at all ever. You can find them at Home Depot or Lowe's. They are just a round, rubber cap that will slide over the y-pipe ends. I just used double clamps on both and they've never leaked.

Cool Thanks!!
I'm going to try one more time to get the Silent Choice to fit, but if it doesn't I'll be going to Home Depot!! |
Unless you need to replumb because of headers or a new type of manifold, why not just leave the y pipe connected? Disconnect the valves or even take out the butterfly plates. No real restriction, the dual path actually may help slightly. Throw on some simple tip silencers such as hpi and there is less restriction than without the y pipe because some of the backpressure from tip silencers is relieved by the thru hub exhaust.
