500efi Valve Springs, Help??

I know this has been covered before, but I feel I need to replace my Valve springs, I have a 2001 500efi w/ 280 hours.

1. Exactly what needs to be replaced, Valve springs, Lifters,??? and what mfg would you replace with, I have been told Isky??

2. Anyone personally suggest a mech in VA ?? to do the work?

All input is really appreciated when it comes to engines:crazy:

WILL;)

27 Fountain, I'm in the same position with the same year and engine and hours. I'm replacing just the springs with stock Merc. They have worked for me this many hours, so.....

Time for a new set of lifters if ya ask me. Ever seen a block explode when a lifter roller pin comes loose and hits the bottom of the lifter bore? Not a pretty site at all. And while you're at it, a new set of crane 1.8:1 rocker arms will pick up a bit of power for you.

How much $$ does a job like this usually run?

That won't tell you what shape the valve train is in. Unless you have a valve seat problem. Weak spring, or roller lifter needle bearings worn won't show up on a leak down or comp test.

But it will put your mind at ease about the the shape of your piston rings. Asuming the test is good.
