If they are LIghtnings then I believe that they are older than 2-3 years.
Mine are 6-7 years old and the tubes go over the top.

The inside tubes on Lightnings ARE stainless. The outer jackets are available in powder coated steel or stainless at extra cost.

But the inners are Stainless on all of em.
