Did you get the disk w/ the tool.? Is it a MercTrans or Borg-Warner system.

O-Ya ,sorry , yes BW trans , and yes ,disc with tool

Slide the disk over tool and insert tool into trans. coupler. Then slide the disk into the drive hole opening in bell housing. You may have to rotate the bell up and down, side to side. After disk is in look around the disk. It sould be flush up against the housing. If there is a gap on top lower the front of motor. If there is a gap on bottom, raise front of motor. Should be within .002 all the way around. If there is a gap on the side you may have to pull the front of motor to the side a little. Not much movement side to side. But you can also raise one side a lower the other w/ the mounts and "juggle" the motor around.

looking in at the trans output , it is about 40 % lower than the visual centerline of the (Gimbel?),still learning all this jargin, any way the part that is bolted to the transom. I can push the disk flush against the bell if I adjust the bell up and down. Am I Aligned?

That sounds right. Usually the tail stock sits a little low in the gimbal. If its flush all the way around its good. Its when you can't get the disk flush after moving the bell round the motor needs to be aligned.

Cool, thanks marinetrans.
