Characteristics between single and twin step
 

I understand I will see 4-5 mph diff between a single step Executioner and a twin step Lighting, but what else can be expected.

Do I loose bite in a turn? Is she easier to trim.

I have learned so much from this forum, the most important being get in them an try them out. That is our goal this Saturday but just looking for some heads up on what to look and feel for.

5 Mph sounds like alot. The single step executioner
runs about 78 mph with 496's. I don't think the
the lightning would run that much faster. With big
power it might be a different story.

We owned a 2000 Twin Step. The boat ran 88 mph on gps with 500 HP EFI's. I have ridden in single step 35 never driven one. Our boat felt solid in the turns and never skidded although we didn't ever try to see just how tight we could turn it. The difference in speed is closer to 3-4 mph. Tarheels single step with 500 HP's ran in the mid 80's and another friends 35 single step ran in the low 80's with the same engine combination. The twin step runs almost flat with not much trim needed. Their are other differences besides the bottom. The twin step is a deeper boat the upper deck is raised and the cabin is a bit taller. The rear engine hatch is different. The twin step opens up and the back of the rear seat raises with it. The single step opens in 2 panels towards the sides. Its a matter of choice, either way they are both good boats.
