Maximum Idle RPM

How much rpm can a bravo leg take with regards to shifting isues.I have reversion isues if I idle in the 700 range. If I bump the idle speed to 1000 the manifolds are bone dry.I thought about running a idle selenoid that works of the neutral safty switch.I would have high idle when in neutral, but as soon as I move the throttle to shift into gear the selenoid would kick out dropping the RPM.Any oppions.

I think you would have trouble geting the RPM to drop quick enough as you moved from neutral to in gear. How about a momentary contact switch to dis-engage the high idle solenoid?

Steeper the prop pitch, the harder it is on the parts.
The cone clutch, though doesn't like slamming in above 1000 regardless of pitch.

Your idea isn't bad, but you'd have to do a couple of things.

#1: Put a return spring on the carb linkage.
#2: Slot the end of the throttle cable connector.
#3: Might have to bend the tang on the accel pump to keep it from squirting while all the up and down is going on - just have to play with that to see.
#4: Need to adjust your neutral switch so it broke connection right out of the detent (I know mine have a range of about 1.5" at the sticks, and you'd need much much less than that).

The reason is cause you would need to be able to pull the sticks all the way back for idle, but the solenoid would need to be able to click the linkage up and down without trying to move the sticks as well.

Are you talking idle speeds in nuetral or in gear???

I had my baja idled at 900rpms in nuetral and it dropped to 750 in gear. Never had any problems.

I would try to bump it up in that area and see how it does first.
