Travis have you been a bad boy???

Crazyhorse 03-02-2004 07:02 PM

It's all about the money, Traviss.

BadDog 03-02-2004 07:11 PM

Yeah I am a little bummed too. No more pics for me. It had been suggested that I visit the "other" site but it is mostly full of parrots. The technical section reads like like Womans Day and any good info there is second hand. The money is not really a problem but there should be a less harsh line, perhaps bigger benefits for those that pony up and less punishment for those that don't. Right know I am busy trying to outfit a boat for the kids (18'/302 Ford) and the stereo, amp, ski's, wake-board, battery switch, cable, safety equipment, etc.) is killing me. Have not even started my winter projects yet for mine yet alone the new garage. Sorry if I offended anyone who frequents the other board but you are here too so you know what I mean.

PhantomChaos 03-02-2004 07:23 PM

Traviss.......did you try emailing OSO?

BadDog, I'm a paid up member of BOTH sites. And I frequent both sites. OSO has lots of very knowlwgable and helpfull members. I'm relatively new at performance boating and have much to learn and I enjoy the he!! out of reading the tech threads on OSO even if they are not related to my particular boat or situation. And when I've posted questions on OSO I've received good advice and feed back that is greatly appreciated. I've also gotten allot of good feed back at Speedwake when I've posted questions. In my opinion OSO has a greater number of highly knowlegable people than Speedwake, which is what I assume you also believe.

However, I think your broad brush statements re: the "other" site are a bit harsh. It would be like me saying everyone on OSO is an azzhole, which of course is not true. You are actually the only true azzhole I know of on either site.

Years ago, Jeffery needed money for a new server. He didn't have the funds and turned to the OSO members for a favor. This was well before Steve was even on the horizon. If you paid the $20, you are a charter member. Being around for a long time does not make you a charter member.

skygod 03-03-2004 01:06 PM

My charter status got lost somewhere, OSO was gonna check on it a few days ago, still waiting.

skygod 03-03-2004 01:07 PM

Hey it's back, thanks OSO:cool:

traviss 03-03-2004 06:16 PM

email from oso

You were never a Charter as far as we know of. You were given a free one year Platinum that expired.

OSO

i guess i found out why.. :(

BadDog 03-03-2004 06:48 PM

Kidnova,

Take a pill man! Let me tone it down a bit. There is nothing wrong with Womens Day if that is what you enjoy. Read the Tech sections of both then deny that they are MOSTLY parrots. I did not say all are parrots.

Read succinct and knowable replies from the likes of our own Toilet PHD, or others. Try getting accurate info on water pressure over there, blower motor valves, PN's for pistons, cam specs etc. You will get a parrot answer. That is fine if you make decisions based on mob rule. Remember a democracy is not always a good thing or right. If you were the only woman on an island with three guys and democracy was the rule your P would be sore. You got to have facts and logic to back up a decision.

I also eluded that if speed whatever satisfied your needs you would possibly not be here as well. I am glad you are here as well. It is good for you.

Whatever, don't want to start a war here, accusing me of being an a hole lumps you into what you are flaming me for. Thats OK too, I perhaps was a little harsh but being a good Marine, never leave an attack without a counter volley.

I would prefer to just leave it at that because anything more would just be a waste of bandwidth.

I plan on boating for another 45 years so lets hook up for a beer. The comments are not directed at you.

Tim T.

Kidnova 03-03-2004 10:54 PM

BadDog,

I took a pill, and have another left here for you.

I stated my thoughts about the knowledgeable members and feed back provided on this site, as well as that offered on the other site. I refer you to my 1st paragraph, in particular the last sentence.

It boils down to you have your opinions and I have mine. Not considering your rant on parrots, Womens Day, mob rule, etc., our opinions are not that far apart.

My accusing you of being an ahole lumps me in to nothing. Simply voicing my opinion. Perhaps I was somewhat harsh was well. But nothing wrong with a spirited exchange.

If I ever get to your neck of the woods I'll buy that beer. I'll have JD.

Bill

BadDog and Kidnova.......

BadDog 03-04-2004 05:43 AM

OK, I will take you up on that. I got the 6th one. In fairness I spent some time on the "other side" last night and you are right. I have not been there in awhile and it seems that a lot of us are over there too.

Back to our regular programming...

US1 Fountain 03-04-2004 03:58 PM

Tim, don't make me come down there and kick your azz! ;) :D

And after I do that, explain to me what a "parrot" is.

Take care buddy.

BadDog 03-04-2004 04:17 PM

Hey Jerry,
Give Brace a call if you need some more info on assembly. A dialog will often bring out more info than simplex exchanges. I am behaving now, been a rough week at work. I now have three managers to report to and one report. Too many chiefs and not enough, wait can't say that anymore. The kids have been wearing me out on getting their project on the water.

I'll take that extra pill Kidnova if baddog doesn't want it. The union at my company is on the verge of a strike (Sunday) and I'll be doing long, stressful hours if that happens... sometimes chit really sucks!! I feel your pain Baddog. Kidnova, thanks for the defend, I am one of the parrots over on the speedwayk forum.

As far as traviss goes, pony up boy. I had tooo ;)

BT

Kidnova 03-04-2004 09:41 PM

Too late Dave, I already took the other pill and "I feel good" {James Brown, ya,ll}. But I have more if ya need 'em  . You're no parrot, you're a teacher.

BadDog, no war or hard feelings here. I'm here to learn, and contribute if/when I can. Life's too short and boat stuff is too much of a good thing to spoil with bickering. But I did enjoy the volley ;) .

BTW, there's more OSO over there, and more Speedwake here than you might be aware of. Not all use the same name on both sites. Hhmmmm....

Crap, I am subscribed to many forums from woodworking to HVAC, MP3, Codec and download sites, UNIX support, DataComm, NASA, GPS navigation, Fire Chiefs Assc. and my favorite is OSO. This is the only one that cost me money rather than makes it or saves it but I enjoy it the most. I have gradually tried to standardize my logins to the one I use here just so I can remember. Don't be surprised when my kids turn up here as BD Jr. You may hear them on the radio if you are on the water anywhere in Ky or on the Ohio near 580.

Ya'll don't toss me off if I show up elsewhere...

Yeah, a little poke every now and then (deserved or not) can be fun but not always productive.

I suspect that as more of us lose the membership privileges we are so accustomed to and have to re-up more will float around to other boards. I have several local friends who are questioning the new fees. The first go around was easy to pay for but as time goes on it gets harder to pay for. I wonder if the OSO gods have really looked at the pricing structure and determined that 50 bucks a year is what it takes. Perhaps a short review in economics and the Laffer Curve is in order.

Can you say toss me off on this side of the pond? That would be a question for Strip Poker!
