Short vs Tall risers on gil

I have a pair of carb 500hp with stock gil exhaust with the short riser. Was wanting to go to the taller riser to help avoid the reversion problem. My question is can I swap the short riser for tall and use my existing silent choice exhaust diverters.

Not ready to spend $9,000 on new CMI exhaust like everybody says....... sorry.

Diverters 1360x2=2720

No. There have been people who modified them to work but its a chore.

Formula 31 ,
Wat have people done to modify the stock risers?

Not the risers, you have to modify the silent choice diverters. Ive never done it, but ive seen where people have changed the down leg so they can be mounted farther back where the tall risers exit and still mate up with the bullhorn. If I remember right , there were some sharp angles involved and some interesting fab work involved.

I modified my divertors as F31 mentioned for my Gil risers. My boat was originally straight thru hull, I added the silent choice.

Although with mine being the short risers, it was still a straight line back, so the modification was somewhat simple. They could have been left as factory, but I also wanted them back as far as possible so I can leave my risers as long as possible. longer is better.

However, with the tall risers, the modification is more complicated do to the higher arch and having to cut them shorter. It's not a straight line modification. The main straight body of the divertor valve will also need to be cut and angled upwards abit.

finished valves after being powdercoated installed.
