Need help with bottom paint!

I need to take off the bottom paint on my 28' Donzi. It has been on for 5 seasons. Is there anyway to get it off??
Thanks
Dr. J

Sandpaper!!!!!!!! Lots of it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just joking, There are some peel away Paint removers you can get from West Marine, or try Kleen-Strip fiberglass paint remover available at Home Depot!!!!

It is a lot of work, and will most likely require some final wet-sanding, and buffing to get it perfect.

or you could take it somewhere, and pay to have it blasted!!!

Pressure washer with a sandblasting attachment. Use the fine sand. It's a helluva lot faster, you can then sand down the gel if you want it slicker, and believe me, gel sands MUCH faster than bottom paint. Whatever you do, DO NOT get it bead blasted.

A FRIEND OF MINE JUST USED THE KLEEN STRIP ON HIS AND THERE WERE ABOUT 5 OR 6 COATS ON THERE. IT CAME OUT PRETTY GOOD BUT YOU NEED TO COVER UP THE AREA AROUND THE BOAT WELL AND DRESS LIKE YOU ARE PAINTING. THAT STUFF IS TOXIC.

Depends on what type of paint it is and whether you plan to repaint or not.

There are some good compatibility charts available that will tell you which paints can be put over your existing paint.

If you are wanting to strip back to gel, plan to spend two solid weeks blocksanding the scuffs out from where they prepped the boat for its previous paint job.
