Alpha u-joints

I am need to find some cheap u joints for my alpha. I have spent most of the day at auto part stores looking and trying different u-joints to replace mine, cause truck u-joints are $24 for both. When merc ones are $49.99 each  I was trying to find a cheaper replacement, but can't find any, the merc ones are a hair smaller in some areas. This year I used a "heavy duty" set from merc. I got water in them and I want to replace them, its cheap insurance in my mind.

Anyone have a secret places to get these cheap? :D

thannnk youuuuuu

I bought a "rebuilt" outdrive from Florida Outdrive Services in Clearwater Florid a couple years back. Total piece of crap and I think the place is not out of business. I went round and round with the guy who owned it. He said he would never sell another outdrive to a mechanical engineer again. :-) Anyhow enough ranting about them . They used some automotive U-Joints in their drives to save $$. I had a U Joint knock from hour number one. Upon close inspection I found them to be just a couple thousands of an inch undersize in the "span". When U Joints fail, nothing good happens. I think I bought the heavy duty ones from www.ebasicpower.com and they were like 25 each . Get the right ones, worth the time and the hassle not to have to do it twice.

Dodge u-joints fit, but today you can just go to Napa and order them through their marine supply book

Also try aftermarket marine, very cheap for aftermarket parts. I think their website is www.amarketmarine.com

Just for future reference the automotive U joint part # is 1306, it is a spicer 7260 series u joint...commonly used on chrysler vehicles, old timers call it a " small chrysler u joint"...
