Need a GAS TANK built

Anyone know what I need to be looking for in regards to having a gas tank built? I think that I want to put a new one in my Formula. It preasure tests fine but there is some pitting going on and I figure it is better safe then sorry for this type of a deal!!! With all that I am going through the last thing that I need is to have the tank leak and have to pull it!!! The info that I am looking for is, who makes them, do they need to be coast guard certified, and what is a resonable price to pay for a tank for my Formula 302 that is I believe a 175 gallon tank. Does anyone know who made them for Formula?z

There has to be stock ones you can shove in those big holes in the floor of your boat.

My tanks were built by IMCO (California). The quality was outstanding and the price was very competitive. Including shipping, they were less expensive than most others that I checked.

I was able to salvage the sticker some what on the tank that I have and I can read Advanced Aluminum Products in Perry FL. I wonder if these guys are one in the same?

Thanks for the number. I will give them a call.

Yes they are the same. They ever have the PRINTS!!!!! Does 744 sound like a good deal for a new tank? He said about 80-100 bucks to ship it.

I second that recommendation for RDS Manufacturing. They really know their stuff about marine tanks and they currently OEM tanks to about 65 boat builders including Donzi and Cigarette, and they recently built new fuel tanks for my old Magnum. These guys take the time to work with with you to make sure that everything correct and they are not all that expensive either.

The company that made the tank in an 89 Scarab I had was Florida Marine Tank. I opted to have one custom made locally by a company that did fuel tanker truck repair. Better quality, lower price, no shipping, no wait. F.M.T. wouldn't even start one for me until after my check cleared and then it would take 3-4 weeks.
