It connects the risers down to the transom plate for thru prop exhaust.

Oh Ok DUH I was wondering why it was listed as an option, It's part of silent choice?

38KV 03-14-2004 06:27 PM

It can be used as a part of silent choice, or if you don't have thru transom exhaust at all.

CAP071 03-14-2004 06:32 PM

Ok I'm dumb here! Can you have silent choice with out this set up? It's listed as an option on a boat i was looking at and I never seen it listed as an option before ever. I just thought it was part of silent choice ?

38KV 03-14-2004 06:52 PM

You can't have a true silent choice with out it since a real silent choice have the option to dump exhausts thru the prop hub.
But some people think adjustable mufflers are silent choice. In that case, you don't need it.

Hope that helps.

I would say y-pipes are the norm in boating. It is only the performance wack jobs that remove the y - pipes and run the exhaust staight out the back of there otherwise normal boat  Hope that clears it up for you :D

BT

Ok so the Y pipe is a piece of the silent choice system. That I understand, I was just confused as why it was an option listed seperatly from the silent choice option. I would figure that if a boat has silent choice, It has to have the Y pipes to divert it through the prop. But why on an option sheet would i have to check off silent choice exhaust then on the next page I see Y pipe exhaust bull horn option.

Without the diverter you either have the horns to the hub, such as most smaller family runabouts, or thru-transom only. If you have thru-hull and the horns, you have a choice....

You can have the horns installed and capped, but not have the diverter installed with the exhaust only running straight out the transom. This is to give you an option to install diverters at a later date, otherwise you have to pull the motors to put them in...

NOw I know what it is! :eureka: BINGO Thanks reckless
