I am rebuilding my 1990 330 454"s I am have raised the compression to around 8.6 I have added performer 2.0 intakes and my cam's are melling#22216 The valve lift is .461 intake and .480 ex. cam lift is .271 intake and .282 ex I am running the stock peanut port heads. My question is I bought the cam's from a parts house and dont really know what any of the number's mean! Are these close to stock or what? Any help is appreciated

You need to get the duration numbers on the cam at .050" lift. This should be printed in the information with the cam, on the cam card or on the spec. sheet. The lift numbers seem a little small, but it will depend on how much horsepower you are trying to develop and how you will use your boat.

Yes, those numbers are close to the stock 330 cam specs. I'm at work right now and don't have the info here but I can post the info I have when I get home later today.

at .50 duration 214in. and 218ex. The boat is a cruiser about 12,000 lb. I just wanted to get a little more power out of it! Thank you for your input!

Formula 29:
Those numbers seem close to what you will probably need. Just make sure the cam has a LSA (lobe centers) of about 114 degrees or more, otherwise your idle quality will suffer. If you want a little more power after you install the cam, try changing out your stock rockers to some 1.8 ratio units, they will add some lift and probably give you a little more power on that cam.
Good Luck
