BEFORE I HAD FULL HYDROLIC STEERING I HAD A DECAL ON THE SIDE OF THE BOAT WITH AN ARROW POINTING (THIS SIDE UP)

Yes full Hyd steering is required. Imco also has a box that builds in a 3" offset, or raises it 3" so you dont have to shorten the drive. and use the same hole that the drive is mounted in now.
I liked the idea of the imco, torsional shaft and using the coupler, but alignment of the engine is done with an enlongated tool. They will sell you one or you can make one. My friend has same boat 28' Check using Stellings and bigger motor. Neither of us have had any problems with our setups. One thing about the imco, you need to switch the input shaft if you want to swap drives, not a big deal, but one more step if you want to quickly swap/borrow a drive. Dick |
Hey,
a friend is looking for a deal on a pair of complete Stellings kits. PM me if you got a pair. |
ALSO ON THE IMCO TO USE THE 3 INCH BOX YOU HAVE TO RAISE THE MOTOR IN THE BOAT 3 INCHES.WHO,S GOT THAT KIND OF ROOM.NOT ME.

Teague has drive shaft savers for the Stelling's boxes I think they cost about 2 beans. Stellings also uses a drive shaft like in a car w/ 2 universals so alignment isn't that critical and lastly Imco is either 12" back 3up or 12" back neut. a one chance only. Stellings is 12" back up or down 1" or neut. P OFFSHORE sells nice stuff I bought one from him [post#6]
