adding fluid to Bravo I

What is the proper way to fill a Bravo I outdrive that has the remote reserve bottle? I know they say to fill the outdrive from the bottom up but with the resevior bottle I am not sure. Thanks for the help.

If there is still drive oil in the bottle and your intentions are just to top it off, you can certainly add a little fluid through the bottle. BUT, if you have an empty bottle or have drained the oil from the drive, you must fill it from the bottom drain hole. Fill it until the oil reaches the proper level in the bottle.

fill with the drive all the way down.

Pump oil in from bottom plug until it comes out the top plug. Put plug in top hole and continue pumping until bottle (resevior) is full. Do with drive all the way down.

How many qts does a bravo 1 take.....3 I believe correct?

88 ounces to be exact...also, as Bikinilover says, when refilling the unit, fill from the bottom until the fluid runs out the vent at the top of the drive, plug the vent and continue to fill until the fluid shows in the reservoir bottle. Stop filling when you have the bottle about 3/4 the way to the fill mark. You will find that it will take a few minutes and then be close to the top. You can then top it off from the bottle fill cap.

I change my fluid every 25 hours, a bit of overkill but I think it's cheap insurance. Just FYI, I went to Home Depot and purchased the smallest pressure bug sprayer they sell ($11.00). I attached the fill tube from my old pump and keep it filled with fluid which I buy in bulk online. Cuts the refill time by 2/3! Again, if you only refill once a year this is probably not necessary...also, your buddies will constantly ask to borrow it! Good luck.

Thanks for the advise. It is greatly appreciated. That was how I thought it should be filled but wanted to make sure. Thanks again
