Help Please With My Mecury....

I have a 1987 or 1988 Mecury 90 horsepower outboard engine. I know where the peahole is that shoots out a stream of water to show that the water pump is working, and the two little square holes in the back center of the engine just beneath the peahole that spit out some water. But just above the two square holes is another little round hole that I noticed a stream of water coming out. Is that normal?

Dude I tend to stay far away from any peahole thats shooting a liquid substance other than mine. LOL:p :D :p

If its a 3cyl. model, you should have an amazing amount of water being shot out the telltail (pea hole). The 2 other will have water shooting out at a higher rpm when the poppet valve opens. As far as another hole above the 2 exhaust ports, never really noticed that before on that motor. That doesn't sound familiar.

I'm not sure, but I think the "other" hole is a cowling drain that drools any water that gets inside the cowling after dropping off plane or backing down...

Shouldn't drain water out of it but just for a minute or so, then it should stop if it is indeed a cowling drain...
